More About Lynda Gordon
Lynda S. Gordon is a philanthropist, children and women’s advocate, and animal lover. Over the last 30 years, she worked alongside her late husband Dr. Michael S. Gordon to give back to the South Florida community through service and charitable donations. Her latest endeavor as an author marries her passion for storytelling with her love of Michael. Lynda created the series “Coogie The Dumpster Cat” as a way to inspire young children and keep Michael’s legacy alive.
Coogie, the Dumpster Cat” the first in the series is now available in bookstores nationwide and on Amazon. A Christmas collection will be available in the fall, as well as a look-a-like Coogie plush and other Coogie collectibles.

ommunity leader. Charitable donor. Animal rescuer. Child and women’s advocate. All these attributes describe Miami philanthropist Lynda Gordon. Over the last 30 years, Lynda worked alongside her late husband, Dr. Michael S. Gordon, to enhance the greater South Florida community through acts of charity and compassion. Together, spreading joy to others proved to be the ultimate achievement.
Lynda’s passion for service was born from her personal experiences and adversities. This innate desire to give back brought her and Michael together and drove them to impact countless individuals’ lives positively. Together in 2010, the couple established the Michael S. Gordon, M.D. Foundation to support their charitable efforts, providing a Chair at the Gordon Center at the University of Miami, scholarships for students and first responders, and caring for animals. Theirs was a true partnership in marriage and community engagement.
Following Michael’s passing in July of 2017, Lynda knew her path would include honoring his legacy on various fronts. She opened her own company, The Gordon Alliance to support ongoing charitable efforts with the Boys & Girls Club of Miami-Dade, FoMA (Friends of Miami Animals Foundation) and various departments at the University of Miami including the one closest to her heart, The Gordon Center.
Her love of children, her story-telling talents, and the shutdown during Covid led her to put her storytelling talents to good use as she has written a series of children’s books mirroring Michael’s story but as a cat named Coogie, Michael’s imaginary friend as a child.
